This guy was hovering (very similar to a pied king fisher's hovering) above a lake in the morning. 7D+500 II+1.4X III hand held.

A nice hover position. I do wish for more light in the eye.

A good kiting position and a lovely bird. The wing looks good, but the rest seems just a bit lacking in detail.

Better light on the eye, and the subject bigger in the frame would have been better, but I do like the hovering pose and good exposure exposure. I really like the layering of the wing's feathers.
