    Default Hooded Merganser

    Attached Images Attached Images

Each time this Hoodie surfaced with a fish, there was just a split-second before a gull would swoop in and force the duck to dive with his prey, or swallow very quickly. This time, the gulls must have been napping, allowing several frames before he ate his catch. He refused to listen when I told him to turn the fish around to face me.

Hi Bill, super detail and fgreat exposure on the duck. Would have been nice to see a lower perspective, a bit more of a head turn and I would personally prefer the merganser higher up in the frame. But these are all subjective and this is a super sharp image capturing some cool behaviour. TFS

Excellent exposure and details. Great timing - a visible prey item is always a big plus. I'm guessing a lower shooting angle wasn't possible? Nicely done Bill. This is a bird I hope to see in real life some day.

Nice one Bill. But I wish you had gotten all of the bird in frame.

Do you mean the part of him that's underwater?

No, everything is fine. My screen was not expanded to show the whole image. Now that it is, this is good in all regards.

    Nice one Bill!
I like the action you caught.
I would personally place the merganser higher in the frame.
Good exposure and I like the splayed out tail on the water,

I'm loving your merganser series. Bird looks great, love the prey item, great job handling the whites and blacks. It might just be me, but I think you need just a little bit of CCW rotation. These birds have some great personalities!

Nice looking action shot with a good look at the prey. The exposure and details look great and I think the comp fits perfectly. Well done Bill

Good one Bill . I too reckon the bird could be a little higher. No big deal though.
