Like everything about this image, Roy. The concentration in that eye, talon exposed, feather detail, and graduated complimentary BG. Well done.

What an incredible sighting! I would feel so privileged to see this owl in real life.
You have a terrific BG and a sweet little perch.
I find the owl a bit underexposed and I think I see a bit of noise creeping into the feathers- nothing a bit of PP cannot fix.
Would love to see an image with both eyes visible,
    Gail

Roy I am sure there may be a technical bits to be pointed out, but for my part this is one excellent piece of wildlife photography, could just sit and look at it and wish it was mine.

Great image, Roy. I saw one during a birding trip right at the nesting hole in Arizona, but no image at all.

I am a bit late to your party Roy but could not help complimenting you on such a sweet image. It is all very well writing about what might have been but the real point is that you captured a great image here. Well done, Ian.

Just so darned cute! What a great image, Roy...could look at this all day. I did play with a browser scroll and think that a trim from the top could work.

I love this one, Roy. Especially the way he's hunched over on his tiny stem, and the beautiful background. Oh, and the comp. If you have other frames showing both eyes, I'm sure you'll share them; but this one made my day.

Very nice Roy, was this down at Boundary?
Amazing the single stem can support the wee fellow. I think you could afford some off the top and pull some blue out of the whites, but overall very nice, killer BKG.

I had to come and look when seeing mention of your '1st pic' when looking at the 2nd one. Nice one Roy - nice pose, sharp as can be. A tad higher IQ than the 2nd one. My guess is that the lower ISO is the reason for that. Usually when I need to go beyond 800 ISO then I rather grab my D600 and sacrifice the extra reach offered by the D7100's 1.5x crop sensor.
