    Default Giant Kingfisher

Captured early morning on the banks of the Luangwa River, South Luangwa Nat Park- Zambia.

D4s 500 f/4 VR f/5.6 1/8000s ISO800, very slight crop. ( the sun rises extremely fast this time of the year in SLNP, and a lower ISO would have been preferable )

    C & C always welcome

    Cheers

Nice morning light, good head turn, and the open beak tops it off. Detail and exposure look good. If this is just a slight crop, I'd be tempted to crop just a bit tighter to remove some of the negative space top and right. But I'm guessing that you made an artistic decision to keep him small in the frame.

Hi Marc, great sighting of this male Giant, and with an open beak. He pops nicely from the distant BG, and find your placement spot on. I wish the OOF mud wasnt showing in the LLC, and Im sure you could re comp to erase it.

I like the image design and the mud-perch. A crop from our left and the top would lose the o-o-f focus mud that I also find a bit distracting. It looks as if some NIK CEP Detail Extractor could be used to open up the dark tones of the bird a bit more.

Great loose framing and the pose and light are spot on. I agree regarding the LLC

Agree with the comments about OOF mud, the rest-spot on.
