Caspian Tern
Caspian Tern- Never had a close encounter with a Caspian tern. I was surprised by how big this tern really is. The beak looks so powerful.
5d3+500 f4+ 1.4 II, ISO 400, 1/5000, F5.6, handheld, kneeling, Didn't allow any time for lying flat on the beach. would have loved a lower profile. Slight crop for composition. and some minor BG cleanup
C&C are requested, welcome and appreciated.

Nice pic! The bird's expression with the powerful open beak it's a plus.
I just point out that in terms of composition it seems to centered vertically.

I just had my first "close" encounter with a Caspian Tern this past fall too, and yes, they are quite big with huge bills! Exposure looks good, details too. The blue water is very nice. Not too fond of the whitish blobs above, and I do find that there is too much foreground as posted.

nice lighting and I find your low angle pleasing. It would be interesting to see a closer crop using the suggestions Daniel made, top and bottom, and realize more feather detail of this beautiful bird. Nice timing on the open bill.
