Another image from Chincoteahue Island. This image was captured in the early morning light. We knew her normal fishing route and perches and sure enough as we pulled up there she stood perched. Using the car as a blind she cooperated and gave me many poses.

    D700, Nikon 500mm + 1.4 tc, 1/320, f 5.6, ISO 1000, HH from car.

Few distracting branches removed from perch.

Can't locate where to correct Title. Should read Belted Kingfisher.

Beautiful Kingfisher, bird, perch and background compliment each other. Since viewing your and Bill Dix's images from Chincoteague I have looked into renting a house for a week on Chincoteague Island. Thank you for sharing.

I love the detail and colors on the bird, and the perch fits very well with the palette of the image.

Very nice subject and perch. I love the BG but I feel there is detail lacking in the bird as well as a lot noise, and I feel the loss of detail is due to noise reduction on the bird. TFS Geoffrey!

A lovely shot of this most cooperative Madame KF. The dark background sets her off nicely. To me the detail looks good on most of the bird, but I can see an area on the reddish flank where the detail seems to have suffered a bit.

Thanks everyone. Dumay I did reduce a bit of noise on the bird, and the area Bill mentioned probably could use a bit more detail.
