Settings are a bit wonky and I don't know what I was doing. i should have been at 7.1 and 1/1600 but i got away with DOF.
    Finally a clean BG!!
PP Crop to 80% FF,and usual LR sliders NR to BG, levels, some poo cleanup and cloned out a second catchlight , DE to bird at 2%, USM to JPEG
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,

Great shot with perfect sharpness & detail, Gail! Nothing wrong with your DOF here IMHO. In fact I think the f/5.6 was a blessing in disguise, giving you this perfectly soft BG. Nice one!

Hi Gail, you didnt have to visit Pilanesberg to get your Kingfishers, Botswana was kind to you. Lovely angled pose and HA, and you nailed the exposure on this female. I do like that OOF BG, makes the KF pop nicely.

Gail must admit I can't see where your wonky settings affected this,it all looks excellent to me.

This is beautiful. I don't mind the limited DOF here, as the bird is sharp from head to tail.

Just lovely. The bird is sharp as a tack, with great detail. Head turn is perfect. What I really love is the way the green BG sets off the B&W bird. I assume this was a 600?

Nice one Gail, plenty of details in both blacks and whites. Bird is sharp and smooth BG is superb

It all came together nicely on this one Gail. Perfect pose, nice details and exposure, great looking perch and a nice smooth varied BG. Great capture.
