    Default Finding the Grey Point

    Attached Images Attached Images

    Hello to everyone

Herr Liedmann has accompanied us to our beloved Kalahari on our last trip.

I asked for advice with PP- "first you have to find a grey point for the WB." I wanted him to demonstrate, which he did.

In processing the image I tried to turn him into a Smart Object, did not work, went back to cloning...

None of the animals in this image were hurt in the making of this..

    Cheers, Andreas..TFS..
    Regards

    Andre.

...Andreas survived this exercise and obviously helped us get better pictures

Andre, you have forgotten to give us the techs...by the way, where was your FOCAL POINT?

Andre - The problem was that Andreas needed to be further back, right between the lions for this method to really work.

Rachel, I think Andreas did not want to come in-between the two lions

Hey thanks folks for keeping an eye on those lions , that they donīt get me , but actually they had eaten that night so i was pretty safe .
Think we had a stunning idea all together .

Only one crit i have , i am tall as you know , but not as tall as in this image compared to the lions .
Thanks a bunch for making our ideas come true .

    Really lovely Andre .

    Hoping for a next time

Gabriela, you know someone might just try it!

BTW that mid grey point is 4.1% over, across all three channels, 54.1%.

Steve, at the time we were plotting this image, Andreas said "don't make it look too real"...I guess he had a point - not a grey one, but still a good point: if people believed this, no one would ever come with us on holiday again!

By the way, he was holding a piece of white paper in his hands - it was his Kalahari booking

Andreas, thank you again for all the humour and fun

Haha! Seems like a big risk to take just for a perfect white balance!

Hey Gabriela it was great fun to share all sorts of stuff on this great trip , my best in the last couple of years , specially from the social POV , and you made this possible for me . Meaning you and Andre together , rarely i had that many laughs during my trips .

Just could not resist it. If Andreas hadn't posted since you got back then I might have thought you guys took things a bit too serious in getting the ideal WB.

Well we certainly had plenty of opportunities with Lions & Leopards, you just had to ask, I would have gladly pressed the shutter.

Would definitely agree on that Andreas, the left sock, (as viewed) has a far better mid grey point value than the card, so good call on that, but less so on the fashion side , at least they were not white !!!

You know, walking among a few rhinos or swimming with some hippos you would not have had to hold up a card to get the grey point! Fun one Andre!
