This is another Chobe river boat shot of a young male impala. Almost FF in portrait view. Was cloudy weather with odd showers of drizzle.

Used Content aware scale to pull him back in the frame to give some lead to the left. Probably not enough but my 'add' - canvas skills not too good yet.

    Nikon D700 - 600mm F4 + 1.4 extender
    ISO 1250 - F6.3 - 1/2500sec

ACR basics - PSCC14 - Lum Masks, sat layer, curves, burn layer, Small amount NR

    C&C welcome - thanks

Hi Carl - Another sweet impala portrait. Nice sharpness and dof. Comp looks good. There's a slight reddish cast so I would drop the reds slightly. I would also burn the lowest white highlight on the left edge slightly.

    Rachel

Excellent portrait Carl, nice soft light, good details and HA. Rachel has given some good inputs here.

Excellent impala portrait. I even like how your copyright manages to balance out the image.

Hi Carl, nice simple portrait and I think you did well with CA, however don't always rely on it.

I'll leave it with Rachel on the Reds, but I might experiment in 'blowing in' a bit of light/soft green in those highlights on the LH just to knock them back a bit. Did you need such a high ISO?

Hi Carl , back home now , enjoyed the days out with you a lot , hope for a redo .

Regarding the image ... like the portrait with very nice IQ .
In general i like the saturation but would knock back the reds as per Rachel, but would leave the BKG as is .Love the hue of the greens.
The blacks does look a bit solid ? And as if you have tried to open them up ,they do look kind of washed out ? Maybe i am wrong !
How do you get along with the stuff we talked about ?

    Nice one , TFS Andreas

Thanks all for the comments. Yes there is a reddish cast but I have reduced it quite a bit already. Ill play with some more reduction.
Andreas, glad to see you had a great time and got back safely. Whats the news on the dropped lens. Hope all ok.
Yes I am doing fine with what I can remember so there definitely will be some mail coming your way. Was a very quick lesson

A lovely portrait, Carl - clarity, soft light, contrast, all good for me.
You've received some good suggestions already...
