    Redwing at pool.
    Good to get back snapping again. My second visit to my latest pool hide threw up this nice surprise.from Scandinavia. I didn't realise they were in around here yet so it must have been pretty recent. I still say along with Song Thrushes they are one of the shyest of birds. Move the lens the slightest bit clumsily and they are off !
    Light not too good either.
    Pemanent hide

    Nikon D7000 ( Nikon D7100 still poorly !!)
    Sigma 50-500mm
    160th @ f8
    800 ISO ev -2
    80% of full frame.

    Very nice John, love the pose, and the colours. Wished it was facing us though. Never seen one up here yet, hope they arrive soon

    Nice looking frame of this beautiful little guy. The details and techs look good and I like the bathing pose. The pond and the BG foliage look good too. Well done

    Thanks Got aload more today but just can't getthe pose I want.They're so skittish but we,ve had hawks around which means you have to wait an hour in the hide before things settle down.

    Hi John, love the 'proud' pose and great that we can see the droplets on his wings. Lovely colours throughout the image.

    Very natural looking image John and I love the colours. I spent all day Monday looking for these guys - didn't see one.. but I know they are around!
