    Exposing for black bears can often prove difficult. Full length images are often best taken with overcast conditions or in shadowed environment. Fast glass, high ISO, and good stability technique both on and off the tripod will increase your keeper ratio.

    IDS Mark III, 300 F/2.8IS
    Manual, spot off midtone in same light plus 1 EV,1/400 @ f/3.2, ISO 800, handheld
    Post-production- ARC, CS3, laptop

    Hi Chas, What a great Black Bear image. Nice composition and beautiful detail in the black. Looks like the bear is pushing the limit of the limbs it is on!!

    As was mentioned you nailed the exposure. The fur detail is great. I usually don't like the high key BGs, but the black fur and its detail negates any glare from the BG.

    Your the man! Chas this great. Exposure is dead on to say the least. Perfect! I wish I had this one on my wall.
