Default Canon EOS-7D Mark II Action Image

I have been playing with a 7D II for nearly two weeks now and have been so thrilled and busy that I have been remiss about posting. To make up for that I just posted 20 7D II images in the Gear Forum. You can see them here. There are links to numerous 7D II blog posts. Simply put it is a great camera for bird photography: the best-ever AF system, beautiful, high quality image files, and very good to excellent control of high ISO noise. You can learn a ton more on the blog at www.BIRDSASART-Blog.com. I have a streak of 330 straight days with a new, educational blog post. All free, and all with our legendary BAA educational captions.

This image was created at 8:32 am on the morning of 11 October, on the Fort DrSeSoto IPT with the hand heldCanon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens and a beta version of the Canon EOS 7D Mark II . ISO 400. Evaluative metering -1/3 stop as originally framed: 1/2000 sec. at f8 in Manual mode.

65-point Automatic Selection/AI Servo/Rear Focus AF activated two slightly off-centered sensors as seen in the DPP screen capture below. AF was of course actively tracking the subject at the moment of exposure. Click here to see the latest version of the Rear Focus Tutorial.

As for this image, don't be shy; all comments welcome.

As always, spot on image. I just studied your post of twenty images, a mark to strive for. Thank you for sharing.

Good even lighting and sharp, I like the foot on the water's surface.

It sounds like you are pleased with the new 7D II. I am glad to hear it as I am considering upgrading from the 7D. Nice capture of the egret.

Yes I did and I found the comments very interesting too. (Reading further down it occurred to me that you'll want to be sure to fly to Guayaquil not Guayacil )

Excellent shot, Artie! I'm seriously thinking about getting one after reading your reviews. Thanks a lot for posting them.
