Killer light at sunset. The sun just dropped down below the cloud momentarily. I had just a few seconds for a couple of shots before the light disappeared again behind another layer of cloud. I wanted to capture the eye of the lioness in this beautiful light.
Beautiful light, awesome colors and superb capture of those eyes in this light. I only wish for a tab more room below. Am seeing this on my iPad, not sure if some magenta cast is creeping in.... Otherwise a superb shot.
Hi Loi - I agree with Sanjeev on all counts. Beautiful light but I would have preferred for the whole comp to be shifted down. I realize that would have brought in more of the oof lion lying in the fg but the image feels unbalanced as posted. If you have no more room below then perhaps cropping from the top will help. I also agree about the magenta cast. It's most noticeable on the oof lioness.
Magical light indeed! I agree that the comp is not ideal and will even consider a more pano comp by cutting away some of the space on top! Still a beautiful specimen of these magnificent beasts and just gotta love those eyes!
Hi Loi, you get some great light at Duba and I think in the initial capture you did exactly that. Light does go quickly as time marches on, this is why, as Rachel knows, I would always check how long it would take to get to a sighting based on the 'journey' time, otherwise IMHO, it's wasted. You have to be able to get there and be able to shoot. I quite like the framing, techs look OK too, but agree, more below would be good.
The OP is carrying a lot of unwanted colour, reducing those colours IMHO, in varying %'s, Red, Yellow, Blue, Purple & Magenta, begins to then base a platform to work from, but still retaining the look & feel you initially captured. How far you then take it, is personal choice. Hope this helps.
Insane light, it's always best when clouds "above" the setting sun reflect even more of the intense last minutes of light back to the earth - landscape photographers live for this kind of light.
Steve's RP colours look better to me, as he hasn't lost the intensity but it better reflects what I would expect in this kind of light (perhaps it can do with slight boost in vibrance/saturation).
I'd crop some off the top...
Thank you Steve for the RP. I'm still away from home, so will need to wait until the weekend to really see it. Thanks Morkel for explaining the reflection from the cloud above. Sanjeev and Rachel, sadly i have no room at the bottom. These fleeting moments went by quickly and I was not quick enough to get more frames in the beautiful light. Moments later, the light was lost in the cloud again. Thank you everyone. LOi
