Same individual as the "cherub" pose I posted the other day. It's not everyday you get a small songbird preening and stretching right in front of you for 10 minutes, so you can bet I worked this fella for all it had! I has a few similar preening poses like this but this one stood out to me for the thin feathers across the eye - I though it gave the pose that much more intimacy to it.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2000s., f/7.1, ISO 800, natural light, handheld from car, small crop to help the composition, cloned out a pesky grass blade behind the sparrow.

    Nice one Daniel
Nit picking now but no big deal
Wish the bird a little more central and some space between the tail and the log! That's nit picking !!!!

Beautiful! I think this is one that could be framed a little tighter, to showcase the gorgeous detail. I want to see more of the series!

Hi Daniel lovely preening pose , with superb BKG and perch , Like the overall colors and tones , but would expect some deeper shadows , just a tiny bit . A very slight mid tone boost would give even more depth to the tones , all very subjective at least .

Great pose. The image is nice and sharp and has a nice clean background. I'd prefer a little less blank space to the right.

the first thing I noticed was the soft feathers over the eye. Adds allot to the frame. The rest looks awesome with some beautiful morning light placed perfectly on the bird.
Another beauty of this little freshie.

Hi Dan, love the light here, and glad you captured him with his eyes open during preening, as most close their eyes dont they. I think I mentioned on your previous post of this fellow that I liked the moss covered perch - the same goes again.

I like the pose, perch, details, exposure, BG and composition. Well done Daniel.
