When the Redshank is bathing they sometimes jump and dive around from left to right very fast. I have tried to capture this moment. Focussing is hard because it all goes so fast. This is one of the results. The weather was not good with showers and overcast. I have toned down the highlights.
The image was taken from a hide.

    Canon 1D-X
    Canon 600mm II + 1.4 converter III
    ISO 1250
    F 7.1
    1/1250sec

All comments of course appreciated and welcome.

    Cheers, Tom

Hi Tom , nice job in getting this into the frame. The droplets are very nice and adding to the scene. Good tones and colors . You might watch the halos on high contrast edges a bit more fine selection can solve this problem

Yes a fine shot Tom, from recent previous experience I would have gone for 1/1600 sec max to perhaps 1/2000 sec. I like the exposure some water droplets are a little intrusive I often apply little to no sharpening to them.

I love this moment, but it seems like focus locked onto the water droplets in front of the bird.

    Thanks guys for your comments.

@ Andreas You are right about the halos, thanks for pointing that out

@ Jonathan I mixed up the iso with the ss. The actual ss was 1/2500sec I shall correct this if that's possible. I only applied sharpness to the bird at first and after resizing a bit to the whole image, maybe still too much for the droplets?

@ Kester There is sharpness at the eye but it all goes very fast so it could be a bit off

    Cheers, Tom

Cool pose/timing here! I agree with others about the processing/halos, and also think that the focus was not spot on here...
