Can somebody tell me if this is a Barred or Spotty (or something else) owl?
I just captured it this morning in Cleveland. Somebody asked about the color
of the chest, which I don't have pictures of.
Thanks...Doug

It's a Barred Owl, a Spotted would be way out of territory here in Cleveland. I've been seeing and hearing more Barred Owls this year than in the past. Just photographed one a couple of days ago a little south of you. Nice over-the-shoulder pose.
Thanks Jim. I kept asking him what he was. He would answer back 'who'. I told him, you.
Then I'd get another 'who'. I was getting nowhere :)

... Yeah, they're not as smart as they look sometimes. Was this taken at North Chagrin? I know there was one there for the past few years that was very cooperative.

Definitely Barred. Looks like perhaps, still a "youngster" (pin feathers on the back portion of the head, and not quite fully feathered up front) ... May not be quite "into" the "Who cooks for YOUuuu" call yet. Beautiful photo.
