Can't remember having seen one of these on this forum yet (I might have missed some) so let me add one of my own. Greater Flamingo's snapped two days ago at Strandfontein (Mitchell's Plain), South Africa. They landed up in the centre of the scene for the sake of retaining the water droplets behind them.

General sharpening in LR, whites reigned in a tad using LM's in CS6.

    Hi Tobie,
Nice to get 2 birds in a frame.
This image is not working for me because the birds are flying away from you. The other problem is that the far birds' head is OOF because you couldn't get enough DOF.

Thanks for commenting Gail (Flamingo's are very skittish and will always run / fly away from you )! Admittedly the male has softer facial features than the female (and a pink spot right in front of the eye) which might make it perceived to be a little out of focus.

I personally don't have a problem with the birds flying away, and I think it may have worked quite nicely had the light been better. That would have lent itself to a more pleasing image all around. Thanks for sharing this lovely species.

Thanks for your reply Marina. You have it spot-on: not only was it a typical rainy Cape Town winters day but the wind was blowing like mad so it was quite a difficult shot to pull off. The birds were actually running away - needless to say they might fly over your head but they will never run towards you.
