I liked the last one because of its dreamy effect. I like this one because of the dramatic color separation. The sun is hitting the lower dunes just right to highlight the edge and the misty mountain set them off.

Cheryl, the Palouse really inspired you! This is fabulous with the dramatic orange/yellows and those graceful and sensuous undulating layers of lines. I really like the additional compositional details of the trees along one of the horizontal lines and again at the tops of the mountains. There is one darker bit in the center of the yellow sky that appears as a small vertical element that I would just remove the top of. It is just a small piece that does not flow horizontally.

Great Cheryl, love this one too. The colours are delightful. Is the Palouse a very big area?

Gorgeous. Love, love, love the colors, light, brightness, undulating lines. I like how the lines repeat from bottom up, from fields to the mountains. Those greenish (?) areas on the mountains work quite well as they indicate trees. But, the same color in the sky is less pleasing to me. Is there a way to make them a color that blends in better with the sky? What do you think?

If it wasn't for the trees in the bottom, I'd think this is a raging river with distant mountains in the background. This is an area I'd like to see some day. Very nice work

Excellent! (The Palouse doesn't really look like this at all! This is through the eyes of an artist!)
I love how the "textures" brought out in the sky mimic the trees!!
Another interpretation would be to crop about 1/3 into the sky and maybe do some increased Clarity on the bottom 1/3, but that's no criticism of the image as it is, which is wonderful!

Cheryl,
Greetings. I particularly like the smooth ripples and the first line of trees. But, I find the posterization in the top third (above where the oranges transition to yellow) not much to my taste. Really like the bottom 2/3rds, though ;-). Thanks for posting.
Cheers,

Eliminating the posterization in the sky was a huge improvement. While I love the image and I loved being there, I find myself wishing to see more of those foreground hills. BTW, we were leaving the hotel at 3:15am in order to make the sunrise. Yikes!

Cleaning up the sky and cropping was just the thing to make this photo perfect.
