The Disney owl in technicolor
This is my fav. burrowing all frame from my shoot with Dave Salem at his location in southern California and perhaps my all-time fav. Burrowing owl frame. The youngsters were active and very playful that evening. Vehicle was used as a blind to approach the owls, I used the same technique I described in an earlier thread. I hope you like it, the juveniles are really cute!
1DX 600II f/5.6 1/3200sec ISO 400. handheld from vehicle.

Wonderful lighting and symmetry in this one. Wish for more direct eye contact.... :) lol. What's the Disney reference?

Love the feet and hint of tail feathers on each side of the body too. Great head-on view. Sounds like this was alot of fun...and a lot warmer climate than our winter owls prefer to hang out in!

Loved it on FB and love it here.
IQ is awesome.
I wonder if you should rotate this clockwise ever so slightly ie. 1 or 2 degrees. That would level the eyes, the splayed tail and the wings.
Can you explain the Disney reference? Hope I am not being completely obtuse!

Killer frame, and I can see why you love it. Perfect light and symmetry. I agree with a slight rotation to level the eyes.
Did you mean Dave Salem??? :)

Thanks everyone, these little cute owls always remind me of Disney animation characters with their large bright eyes and cute faces!

Hi Arash,
What to say? Wonderful shot in all aspects. The eye contact is impressive. Congratulations! TFS. Cheers! Miro

Arash, lovely image in good light. You had both eyes big and round in flight, which is hard because the light has to be just right. Too much light and the pupils would be small, too little light and you wouldn't have the SS. A little rotation wouldn't hurt. Congrats. Loi

I dont think I could have scheduled a better week for you to come see me. The Peregrines were at the perfect time and the owls were active and very cooperative. That evening was a blast and we even got a good breeze for the flight shots. Glad you got your best Burrowing owl flight shots ever with me. Told ya it would be good :) This one is killer! I have one very similar that I may print, like the one I showed you with the flat wing position. This belongs on your wall dude. Let me know when you are ready to order a 36''x24''

This is a classic Arash. Needs to be blown up, printed and hung on a Museum wall! I like the symmetry, the fantastic eye contact, the clean BG and wing position.
