Default Snowy owl flying over the tundra

A wet and bedraggled snowy owl on a rainy, foggy day. We saw lots of snowy owls in Barrow but only a couple of them let us get close. No baiting or calling.

    Nice placement in the frame
iq looks nice , wonderful exposure
any more saturation that can be added to the eye may pop it up more in my view

Fantastic, Moody capture. Gives such a fine sense of time and place and the conditions that they live in. It's a bit grainy which I like in this image. I would lift (open up) the dark curved line that runs into the owl from the left just a touch. Even though it is part of the landscape it is just a bit strong.

Nice to see one in a non white or blue BG! I like the low flight path and I appreciate in-focus strip of grass with drops on them, pretty neat. I suppose you could dodge the eye a bit (and then sponge in back some colour on it after that) but I think it looks good as is.

Nice to see one in its real breeding environment. A little scruffy but still has the smiley face. Nice overall, Gail.

It's refreshing to see a snowy in a different environment. She may not be pretty right now, but this image portrays some of their struggles. Great exposure and details. I would personally lighten the eye just a tad.

Very nice image of a flying snowy owl in tundra habitat. I do enjoy the lay of the land. I can feel that wet thick carpet of grass just by looking at this frame. Nice job pushing the techs to accomplish the image. Wing positioning is optimal, and size of the subject in the frame considering no attractants, is sweeeeeeetl

Hi Gail, I really like how the snowy pops from the BG in this, and you have captured a perfect flight pose with the full downstroke of the near wing. Overall, well exposed on the whites, and your comp works well.
