Shooting info is on the photo, overcast day the morning after a bit of snow last month. Edited in NX, referenced in Aperture with info courtesy BordersFX. Is it acceptable to include the EXIF in this manner? Sure easier than typing all of it. :)

Hi Larry good point with the pasting info suggestion Let me check will get back !!!

I like this the bird a lot it just feels tight in frame It is well exposed and sharp Have a good head angle and point of focus Fill flash would have helped on the belly just up from the legs You did well with the noise I like NX very much for processing my Nikon images

Will post below the image with some canvas extended up front and removing the black frame (not a fan of frames) Also desaturated the reds a tad They seem to get overcooked on their own

Forgot ..... I would clean up the dark spot by his leg and with some work you could even do the one through his tail

Thanks for the comments Al. I cropped the original to be printed 8x10, it is all in the frame including the part where the EXIF is shown. Still trying to learn NX. It does help when one gets a good image to start with (this happens for me from time to time).:)

As I learn more about NX maybe I can start working on backgrounds.

Larry as soon as I catch up on the work will be posting some NX suggestions The best source right now is a google search I should have saved the link Should not be difficult to find some !!!

One thing you can try for the bg In Capture NX Go to control point > color control point go to your image an click were you want to star making the color changes Once you do a box will open Click advance On the advance there is a color picker Another box will open There you chose the color that you want With the first box adjust settings All self explanatory Neat

btw with the control point you can set the black and white point With the lines that come up local adjustments !!!!

Thanks Glenn. I will have to go back and look, not sure I cropped it much. The weather was so lousy I was a bit surprised to get anything near this nice.
    :)
