Default Losing Color When Saving for Web

I just did my normal processing on an image. The psd looked ok and when I saved it as a jpg, the jpg looked ok.

However, when I tried to Save For Web, the colors and/or highlights were stripped out so that it looked almost monotone. This was especially true for some golden light on the body and color in the neck/beak/eye.

So then I tried a normal Save, except I moved the Quality slider to the left to obtain the reduced file size. This time, the colors/highlights looked ok in the smaller jpg, but when I uploaded it to the Avian forum, they were stripped out again.

I deleted the post in the Avian forum, but I'll post it here.

Am I making some kind of common mistake? I've posted many photos, and this hasn't happened to me before.

    Thanks in advance for help.

The properties show "Color Representation = Uncalibrated" - that usually means the photo is in adobeRGB color space, whereas for safe web use it needs to be converted to sRGB.

ETA: Opening in PS shows it's in ProPhoto color space.
