    Default Mourning Dove.

I liked the way this Mourning Dove was perching with no obstructions to block the longish tail. A common bird but boy is it ever pretty, and the cooing is so soothing to the ears...especially at this time of year with spring being quite shy to fully engage!

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/250s., f/7.1, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, small crop for comp, eye work to rid extra reflections in it, a darker line in lower left corner eliminated.

Such delicate pastel colors. Looks cold. We often overlook common and supposedly plain birds. Lovely shot.

I'd much rather see a top notch shot of a common bird than an average one of a 'rarity'. This ticks all the boxes for me with the lovely pastels and simple pose. Good work

The late naturalist Consair deGooze wrote: "Never overlook the common birds; seek only rarities and you'll never learn anything. The common birds have so much to teach you if you let yourself learn from them." I'm inclined to agree!

I agree Doves are beautiful and one of my favorite backyard subjects. They tend to be ground feeders so I am happy when one poses on a perch. Well done on this one!

Beautiful bird Daniel, lovely colors. I appears it is cold and puffing the feathers to keep warm. Nice image.

Daniel the fluffed up plumage and the soft pastel colours make this image for me, top shot!

Simply gorgeous. Soft light, soft colors in an image that imparts the feeling of the season. It's awesome when someone captures something common and presents it in a way that many couldn't.

A rarely photographed common bird yields a beautiful image. Love the pose, that pointy tail, and the image design as well as the BKGR.
