A beautiful bird! I'm not familiar with its color but it looks like there is a blue cast to the image. Have you experimented with white balance in the RAW conversion?

I agree with Diane, it's pretty blue on my monitor.

I don't know the bird but it looks like you got the blue cast fixed, but the contrast looks a bit high on my monitor. I don't remember if you've said what your processing workflow is.

There is a tiny spot in front of the bill that might be fixed. But I'd be happy just to see one of these, much less photograph it!

Interesting quandary here. The first has a blue cast, the second seems a little too warm and high contrast in comparison, and the third is maybe a little low in contrast and back to a blue cast.

Images like this that don't have a wide range of colors are difficult to get right. It would be interesting to see the third just a very little bit warmer.

    All good practice!

To my eyes the issue with this scene is that the subject is in sunlight and the background is in shade, resulting in a strong blue cast for a majority of the scene. With that in mind, not knowing what the bird really looks like I chose to go for a natural looking branch as my start point.

LR5 Develop screen: +.12 on exposure (mids), +14 temp (yellow), -5 tint sliders. -21 white point. Saturation: +2 yellow, -4 Blue. Hue: -2 Green, +4 blue.

Thinking there might still be too much blue in the upper gray surface of the bird, but I don't know for sure. Hope this helps.

I observed this when I increase the saturation blue cast increase in the upper side of the image, there I am bit confused!

Hi again, thanks Diane, I was half asleep when I posted, wanted to spend more time with this but I just couldn't. Ok-to get it closer to your example provided I started with my previous adjustment settings and did the following: -38 tint slider and +24 blue hue. It's closer but not exact as the lighting is different. Someone else may be able to zero it in from here. The reason the upper part of the picture is more affected from blue adjustments is because it's a shadow area, so it's predominant light source is a blue sky (presumably).
