This youngster was imaged two weeks ago in northern Michigan. This is a lake where I normally don't shoot in the afternoon because of the lighting, but gave it a try, and although the yield was low, there were a couple good ones to be had.

Post: 25% crop for comp, selective sharpening. Removed large second catchlight from adults eye.
Advice and comments always appreciated. This photo is a good example of how the adults adjust their buoyancy to make it easier for the chicks to reach the food.
Randy,
This is wonderful.
Love the interaction, the story, the sleekness of adults' feathers vs chicks fluffiness.
Terrific low POV ( I feel like I am swimming with them) and DOF.
Might clone out the little white spot in BG above adults head but truth be told,I am only saying that because this is a critique forum!!
Well done,
Gail
This is so good, the reason we get out to photo birds to get moments like this.
The little fish, the water drop, the low angle and the sense of being there.
Top Notch!
Awww, this is beyond precious! Excellent techs, interaction, POV, and.... I just like everything about this! This is the type of shot I would like to achieve one day.
Thanks everyone for your kind comments and input. I will clean up the spot.
I have thousands of feeding shots, but only a tiny fraction have everything within the DOF, and many fewer with all the birds with decent head angles. I will have to do some talking with them!
Hi Randy, excellent low angle captured here, and love the eagerness of the little one anticipating his meal. Once again, great exposure on the head of the parent, and you have brought out the softer plumage of the youngster very well. I do like how the droplets are lined across the head of the parent, as well as the water falling off the fish. All in all, a fine image.
Interesting i have come here so many times to watch this one, however was watching it at office on a uncalibrated monitor , however i could see the details and everything nicely
This is one cracker of an image, the feeding pose with both them in great focus is superb, i love the superb details on view and the colours
Simply lovely. No problem with light here, IMO. It brought out the lovely iridescence and fine lines of water drops on the adult's head. Perfect moment, captured so nicely.
