    Default Serial Numbers on 500/4

I was going to join CPS but, when I started looking around my 500/4 (version 1) for the Serial Number, I can't find it. I don't want to strip off all the lens-coat in my hunt Can someone please tell me where Canon hid it?

    Thanks.

Hi...Mine is right under/on bottom where the lens attaches to the camera near the lens cap...you should only need to move the lenscoat back a little to see it. ;)

You get 16 points for a Super Tele!

    Hope this helps. ;)

    That's it! Tyvm!

BTW - where does one find date codes that people always mention (I bought it used and don't have paperwork)?

    Hi..No problem...glad to help!

The date code will be on the end of the lens...it will be "stamped" onto it...take your rear lens cap off and look on the lens...the black part and that is where you will see/find the date code. ;) No paperwork for the date codes only the serial number/warranty card

Some newer ones are different but yours should be where I explained.

for the version 2 there is no date code anymore i believe . ( with version 2 you can tell the age by the serial number) but yours should have one
