This image is only the 15 % of the full frame and the details under wing has recovered because of that the under wings has some grain, I am sorry for that.

Lovely flight pose and colors, but agree their are issues with IQ. I am wondering why with a 1DX you were photographing at ISO 400. As long as you are exposing to the right, there is no reason why your bottom ISO can't be 800 or more. This will allow you the speed to capture this bird in flight and the DOF to get the entire bird sharp. Even with my 1D4, my normal ISO is 800. Good job on handholding.

It held up pretty well for a relatively huge crop. Lovely wing position. A wider crop with the subject a bit off-center would increase the IQ.

I thought there was only a 15% crop. Now I realize this is 15% of full frame. I should have paid more attention. I agree this is good IQ for such a large crop!

Hi Ritesh, Good angled flight pose, and the colours look spot on. I agree with Marina, always try and achieve the fastest ss you can, and ISO 800 or higher on the 1DX shouldnt be an issue.

Wow, I'd say the IQ is very good for cropping off 85%(!) of the original. I also think you could
keep the same composition but show the bird a little smaller in the frame....

I agree with everyone's comments, especially about recomposing a little looser which would help with the IQ. I like the typical KF hovering pose.

I am amazed at the IQ for such a large crop. wow. Yes some issues because of it but still pretty amazing.
