    Default Grey headed Gull portrait

On my recent trip to Cape Town, I took a walk through the small harbour of Hout Bay, and decided to take a few shots of the different gulls that were there. I was amazed to see the detail and colour of their eyes. The BG is distant sea.

Gulls are amazing creatures, not enough people pay careful attention to them IMO. Details and exposure look great. I like the feathers sticking straight up above the eye. I feel that if you had a bit more below and right that would have been ideal.

Excellent portrait ... nice head angle and detail and wonderful BG!

Maybe a bit less room at the top.

    Excellent head shot.
Whites look very good, excellent feather detail, and love the background.
    Makes the gull really pop.
The details in the eye are great.
    Well done.

Have to agree gulls are underrate and when you get a good look at a super image like this it reminds me to take some more! Great shot Stu, as ever the techs are spot on the detail is excellent.
