~Uneven lighting with windy situation made it a tough shooting condition, heck, that is how it is most of the time shooting in S.E.A. Mom flew in and was feeding the chick. Nest was high up in the mountain, had to climb steep steps to get to the spot. It was well worth it.

Where and what is S.E.A.? Where is the nest. What type of nest do they make?

Oops, South East Asia. In Malaysia, their nest is high up in the mountain. They only have one egg during nesting season and the nest is tiny. I just learned about the species also. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treeswift

Although I like what I am seeing, Troy, I have to admit that I don't understand what I am seeing. Could you please explain a little further what is going on with this image?

Mother was feeding the chick. Mom's beak and part of the face was in the baby's mouth.

OMG, I love it!!!! Wish I could have figured that out on my own. I think I would crop a little tighter, esp take some off of the bottom and left so that this amazing behavior can be more easily deciphered. Your hard work paid off, Troy!!! Your BG is killer and you have very nice details here.

Thank you Marina. I will crop it a bit tighter. This was a rare find and I was lucky to be there around the same time.

Congrats Troy on this amazing behavioural image. I agree with the crop suggestion. Well done.

Very cool and intimate image. So they are actually standing on the nest? Is it big enough for the nestling at this stage or does he practically fall out of it? It sure does look tiny.

This is incredible Troy! Assuming that's the nest, I don't see how any of them fit into it. Agree with Marina's crop suggestion.

It took me a while to figure it out, too, Artie. The adult and chick are both sitting on a small nest. The chick's mouth is wide open and the adults face is buried in the chick's mouth during a feeding.

Thanks. I understood the latter but like the rest, was looking for confirmation from Troy as to the former. That is one small nest for one big chick. And yes, an amazing image.

I'd love to see how big (or small) the egg is at first...looks to me like this little guy has a really fast and impressive growth!! I had to study the image alot to figure out what was going on at first, but once you see it you cannot see it any other way. Very cool.

Yes correct. The chick was actually sitting on the nest. From what I found out, the egg actually sits half way in the nest and the other end sticks out just like the egg cooker.
How the chick stays on there, I don't know. Nature is amazing for sure.
