    Default Middle spotted woodpecker

A middle spotted woodpecker was already very long on my wish list, and suddenly it all falls into place

    Han:

Excellent capture of this fellow, with good separation from the colorful BG, sharp, love the tail propping on the snag, interesting trunk without being overpowering. Nice soft lighting.

I might consider a slight crop from the top.

    Cheers

Looks like you put him in the exact place you wanted him :) Very nice capture you have here. The bg in this image is colorful, but not overpowering. I might also consider a crop from the top and left (to keep the same aspect ratio)

Han, excellent BG and woodpecker is nice and parallel. I think the traditional "1/3rd BG, 1/3rd bird and 1/3rd tree" woodpecker composition will work better. I sense some motion blur(or could be some camera shake or both)....not surprising at that SS. With such a great camera, you could have gone higher on ISO to get the higher SS.

Very nice indeed Han - Very sharp image, good pose, and the tree exhibits some interesting textures. I like the ?bracket-fungus that his tail is propped up on and of course that colourful BG.
