    Nothing fancy, but a portrait shot of a royal tern down at the beach. Unfortunately not shot in prime light.

    Sigma 50-500 @500mm
    Av f/14 1/400s
    CWM 0EV
    Tripod. Full frame, sharpened and bg blurred in post processing.

    Not being prime light was a good thing here, because of the side light. Beautiful background and good head turn. Wish the sun was behind you to avoid the shadows, is subtle, on the bird.

    Nice pose and idea. I agree with Fabs' comments and would raise the color temperature a tad.

    Paul I actually like that type light a lot !! Just the light angle would have made a huge difference Would work on the eye area to brighten up !!! A catch light would have helped !!!

    I like the head turn and the smooth background. Shadows don't bother me - side light is usually better for bringing out details than flat light from behind. Not sure about the crop, feels a bit too centered to me. Worked a little on the eye too.

    Thanks Fabs, Alfred, and Gus. Axel, here is a repost with the temp up....not too bad, Dieter. Maybe a bit tight for me but I could go tighter from the original.
