Always difficult to get a good coot image Dan that has imapct, but you have achieved it here with this stunning BG - well done.

    Dan -

Wonderful capture. The bg color plays really well with the subject. You seemed to extract a lot of detail out in the feathers, gorgeous!

Very neat, I really like the pose here with the straight and slightly backwards leaning neck. Good exposure, awesome water colour and texture. I see more of a bluish cast than a magenta one. In Hue/saturation pull down the blue channel's saturation by 40-50 points, you'll see a big difference.

I'm going with Daniel here; I see a bluish cast in the blacks. Love the water color, but not crazy about the head angle on this frame; it makes the bird's head look distorted IMO.

Beautiful water color. Exposed well and great detail in the blacks. Nice work on a overlooked species..

    Dan:

I seldom see a fall coot image, so nice to see the good water color. re: head angle, I would prefer it either a bit further away, or right down the barrel.

    Cheers

That water is stunning: the light, the colors, the shutter-induced blur. Great feather detail too.

Thanks for comments and I agree on the blue caste and the HA.
I have ones with a better HA, but I loved the water in this one.
I will work on the color with your suggestions.

Great image. The water color makes the difference here indeed! Great light, pose, sharpness. TFS
