    The recent Snowy posts from Doug Brown and Arash had me go back and look at the photos I took of the great irruption of last winter.
    I just liked the scene here, this is how I will remember Ocean Shores Washington, last February.

    Nice scene. The stare is right through you. Exposed well and lots of detail throughout. Very natural setting so the large log on the left is not hindering the photo IMO. Well done.

    Awesome bird, love their colors. Well taken Dan, also don't mind the log. Good work.

    Dan:

    Lovely owl, like the wind blown crown, intense stare.

    The trunk is very interesting, a bit too much for my taste, as it competes with the owl.

    Must have been a wonderful experience.

    cheers

    Lovely bird with excellent detail and exposure!

    A bit tight at the top for my taste. Would also like a bit more room at the bottom so log is not clipped.

    The log is a strong element, but it mirrors the shape of the owl's body and as weather is clearly an element here, it is providing him shelter giving a nice feel to the image. I don't care for the broken look at the bottom, so I'd consider cropping up from the bottom and then adding to the top (Include the top pieces of the of the driftwood and more sky).

    Quite a lovely scene. The log does dominate the owl, but makes for an interesting setting a bit different from the usual Snowy shot. Grace's cropping suggestion would be an improvement if you have the room at top; definitely take a slivver off the bottom.

    Log and bird both brilliant...agree a bit more room at the top......but still love the whole setting in this { never knew Owls wore eyeliner }
