I was traveling for the last 3 weeks and I made the mistake not to take my laptop with me. Here is a photo from about a week and a half ago that I just got to process.

Nice pose. I like the water droplets by the head. The head looks pretty sharp with is a trick with the bird coming at you. The three o-o-f trees behind the head are mildly distracting.

Thanks for the comment, Artie. Yes, it is really hard with this big bird to have the small head sharp while it moves towards you. It gave my a good challenge while sitting in the water. I agree about the oof tree. :-).

YAW. What sensor or array was active?

I can't tell you exactly, since I am not using the Canon software that shows the selected focus area. I was mainly using the center point and recomposed, but later on I selected the upper focus area that is closer to the head. For slow moving subject such as a walking flamingo I think it is a better option. I believe this image was created like that too.

Thanks Lorant. Do you use BreezeBrowser? It shows focus points for all but the two new cameras. It is not a bad idea to load a copy of DPP onto your computer just for that purpose.

Terrific timing, great pose and low POV. Drops a bonus. OOF trees noted.

Hi Lorant, good IQ in this, and I like your angle of cature having stood in the water. Great show of the wings, colours look spot on, and I too like the water coming off the head, and framed against the foliage part of the BG.

Hi Lorant, I really like the low shooting angle. You certainly caught the subject at a very interesting point in it's takeoff. I like the water droplets. Would have preferred to see a head angle that provided a little more eye contact.
