One more and if you saw the full image I posted on the other thread, you know this is a huge crop, maybe 15% of the original.
A relatively low iso of 1600 and a very slow SS, but i thought the crop holds up.
1/200, F5.6 iso 1600, 600mm (300 w/ 2x), Handheld, D800
Love the handsome pose given by the owl, nice detials exposure and sharpness. The IQ looks good despite handheld with low SS, very good job. I maybe crop a just a little off the top.
Well Dan I don't know how you do it. Looks great. I have been trying to get good photos from a D800 this week and everything that is not 100% in focus, including parts of birds and perches have so much noise even if the ISO is low. I think you said on previous shots of this owl that you used noise reduction on the background only, did you do any on the bird?
Laurie, if you are not getting nice photos with the D800, something is wrong with the camera or your settings?
PM me, if you want to, maybe I can help with the settings.
Here is out of camera full frame, nothing done at all iso6400 photo (not the one I posted but a similar photo).
You can see how big a crop the one I posted is.
This is better than iso 800 on a D7000.
Hi Dan, love the attentive stare, and the IQ has held up very well. Good detail and colour on the owl, and I like the moss covered perch. Great BG too. If anything I would move the owl up in the frame a touch.
