    Default Kid on the Rocks

A young mountain goat kid explores Mt. Evans. Taken with Don and Sid a couple of weeks ago. While I have been to Mt. Evans a number of times, I do not believe I have ever seen so many varieties of wildflowers in bloom as I did on this day. At 14, 000 feet they aren't large but they were plentiful and added to the beauty that day.

Lovely capture, Tom. Love the range of vision here, and I like where you placed the kid. I like the clump of blue wildflowers, lichen on the rocks and patches of snow in the BG. A pleasing habitat picture.

Thank you Marina, Don and SId.
Thank you Don and Sid for the suggestion to put away the big lens and go wide - good advice. Glad you both had a good trip and Don, I will take you up on that offer.

Tom - love the view, habitat and comp. Nice placement of the goat and walking pose with the head turned slightly toward you. Great job!

Hi Tom, lovely shot, so natural in a great backdrop, seems the trip you guys had was very productive, great to see these little characters and good advice to pack away the big lens.

Nice panoramic view Tom. Like how the diagonal of the goat and ridge cut across the horizontal of the background mountains. As for the flowers, noticed the amount and variety myself while up there last week. Must be the mild winter.

    Hi Tom,
I like the perspective, composition and the detail in your image. The diagonals of the mountains and the line of movement of the goat all adds to make a very pleasing image.
    TFS and best wishes,
    Mark.

It's all been said, Tom. Love the inclusion of that gorgeous backdrop, and the diagonals make it stronger.
I wonder is the mountains shouldn't have a bit more "edgy" detail even at f8?

Morkel, thank you for the comment. If I understand you right, would you be expecting or liking more detail at the edge of each mountain top so that the edges are sharper? If so, to me, when a mountain scene is sharpened, one of the concerns I see is that the mountain/sky interface quickly begins to look "photoshopped" in that the mountain looks like it was pasted into the photo.

I may be totally misunderstanding your comment, so feel free to correct me. Again, I appreciate your feedback.

    Tom,
As noted in Marina's thread, looks pretty accurate to my experience. Depends on what you want to show.
