    Default Prairie Rattlesnake

I love snakes, so i was happy to find an area were rattlesnakes were common in Montana.

Hi Jason - welcome to the Wildlife Forum. Nice first image and we don't see a lot of snake posts. Nice timing with tongue fully extended and I like that it is sharp where it matters with a bit of motion blur by the rattle. All I can say is better you than me with these critters. I would also make your watermark smaller so as not to interfere with critiques. I'm sure one of the mods will come by and ask that you also include things like shutter speed, aperture and any exposure comp in addition to the camera and lens in your posts. Looking forward to seeing more of your images.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Welcome Jason! Love the coiled pose, the sweet light and the exposed tongue...the cherry on top is the blurry rattle...makes me feel like I need to dive away from the screen
Ditto Rachel - rather you than me...

I might consider adding some midtone contrast or local contrast enhancement to add some depth/pop to the snake.

Looking forward to more of your images.

Hi Jason, and another warm welcome. Certainly the series of suggestions to enhance the image will take it to the next level and if the IQ is there, perhaps another alternative is a tighter vertical option? Personally I would rather view this from a screen rather than in real life.

I see Rachel very kindly highlighted addition info required when posting, also would appreciate a slight reduction in the size of © it's a little dominant.

Hi Steve, The watermark will be staying. If it is a violation of terms of use, then just let me know and I won't post any more images. Thanks Jason
