    Default Warbling Vireo.

Less dynamic pose than the one I posted last week, but a much better perch. We had good light, great background, OK perch, and a very cooperative subject. Not bad for an impromptu setup on a local trail.

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/640s., f/6.3, ISO 400. Small crop for comp, audio used to lure the subject in. Minor eye-doctor work (darken pupil, lighten iris)

Nicely balanced frame. Like the singing pose, nice perch, and the spider webs.

Really like the lichen and web on the perch and the killer BG and calling pose. This comp works extremely well.

Hi Dan, cool pose with the tilted head and open beak, and the perch has lots of character. I like the hint of yellow on the lower part of the body. Is this a female?

Terrific execution of your vision, Dan. liked that the perch is entriely sharp which is usually an issue with these type of shots. Awesome on all fronts.

I do not know much about vireos, but if this was a female, I have never seen a female putting so much energy into singing!

Excellent work! Light, bg, perch, details, all superb. Terrific execution, especially considering this is an impromptu setup.

Perfect background with the smooth yellows and greens working together so well. Just love lichened perches and this on has the web -great. Lovely expression with the singing on a sharp head and breast. HA and body pose are ideal. I like the composition too.

Thanks everyone! Stuart, the male and female of this species look similar...but I would guess this one was a male judging by its response to the audio.

Excellent shot, Daniel. Great IQ. nice singing pose and beautiful background.
    Perch looks very nice too.
I had luck with this birds last year.
They were responsive to the call but totally ignored it this year.
Might be the timing wasn't right.

Thanks Karl! This is only my second ever Warbling Vireo responding favoribly to audio. I also tried two or three others that same day (in different spots) with no results at all. Sometimes just trying a different individual works, and yes, sometimes the timing is it too.
