I had a great two days photographing these beautiful birds. Non stop action throughout the time I was there. Adults and juves showing, sometimes three birds at once. A very enjoyable experience, and well worth the trip, and thousands of frames. Gimbal head from a hide. ACR and PS.

    Super sweet Kestrel Will!!

This dude is flying with intent for certain. What an intense stare.

Nice choice of comp here. Though the light seems a bit high it helped out that it seemed overcast a bit.

Was he a good bit out? Getting that back foot sharp at f5.6 seems like a real feet.... err, feat ;-)

    Good one Will.

Hey Will, I told you you would not be disappointed, pleased it all worked out.

Cool image, love the stare, colours look 'bob -on' with a killer DoF. You picked the right spot to get that excellent bokeh and see, in pushing that R6 it didn't melt, but you got the image which its all about and easy to process.
Now just take your time and don't rush things, but intersperse your PP with getting out onto the harbour and shoot some different subjects, it will clear your head.

Hi Arash, thanks for that. The Kestrels are baited with mice. For the flight shots you have to be aware of them coming towards the hide from a distance. The birds usually fly towards you, up to getting them full frame, depending on what perch they choose.

    Nice shot Will.

Very intent stare, but for me personally more room below would work well, rather than above.

Are the mice dead? Please tell me they are. :(
