Another one from the set up on a dull day. The coat looks a bit tatty in places. I think the coat was changing for the winter. Gimbal Head. Almost full frame. I added canvas to the RHS. Because of the long tail, getting the whole of the squirrel in the frame was my biggest issue. ACR and PS.

Hey Will very cool shot ... an airy Squirrel .
Wish had the opportunity here , is it your own set up ?
Pose of the Squirrel is killer good , nice fine fur details and the tones looking good as well .
Wondering if someone is saying it does look like a cut out ... but bet it will not be said .

Lovely work Will , I am a tiny bit envious .... LOL .

    Hi Will,

Nice action, well frozen at 1/5000 sec. So sharp I think those claws are going to scratch my monitor!

The flat light of the dull day is both a blessing and a curse in my view.

    Thanks for sharing, Gerald

Hi Will, looks like the day was very fruitful.

Super image with a killer BKG. Looks as if the image is carrying a hint more magenta, try moving the Tint slider to the left slightly? Love the outstretched feet/leg, however I think loosing the log helps IMHO and emphasises the jump.

    Nice work.

Thanks for that guys. Much appreciated.

Gerald. I hear what you are saying regarding dull days. A few months ago I wouldn't have attempted this shot at a fast SS unless it was a bright day. I would have never shot at ISO 10,000 or anything near that. Now that I am confident with the higher ISO's it opens up a whole new world for me regarding wildlife photography.

Andreas. This is a set up belonging to a mate of mine. Same place where I photographed the Pine Marten at night. Plenty of Red Squirrels during the day. It's an easy set up. If you know a place where Red Squirrels are, then a couple of old tree branches. Placed opposite each other at 45 degrees or there about. Leave a space between them of about 4 - 6 feet. Place some hazelnuts on one side, and you will soon get them jumping.

Steve. Yes, I see where you are coming from regarding the removal. In my bird photography, I always like it better when you can see the perch on a take off shot. That's what I would have been thinking.

    Will
