Both of these guys had been sleeping for a while on tis rock when all of a sudden the one on the left woke up and force the other off the rock (what we see here). All ended well as it hopped back on the rock and they both fell asleep again. Oh well!

Canon R6 + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1250s., f/9, ISO 1600, handheld while prone in the mud, small crop for composition after some CW rotation, minor water cleanup, and toned down the very brightest whites. I suppose I could also remove the white specks on the perch.

Very nice. Love the feet on the right-hand bird. Bad luck on that bird's head angle.

A personal question: does the Canon R6 + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III rig seem as if it is an extension of your body?

Yep, I did deduct a point for that head angle on my scoresheet.

For the question: It actually does at times lol. I practically don't think about it while carrying it.

Hi Dan ... really a stunning image captured , well done !!
Super low POV , nice colors and cool action . So clean and simple design ...

I would address the halos around the birds .... looks like sharpening halos , at least for me

    Hi Dan,

Love this! the response of the two birds is really amusing.

I see the slight halo Andreas refers to, but don't have his pixel peeping skills!

    Thanks for sharing.
