It's ineresting how long these guys really are, esp when hunkered down like that.
Amazing look at the crab in mouth and super job with the subject completely in plane. I feel like going 16x9 could loosen it up a bit and fit the posture of the Whimbrel, but works as-is also certainly.

Lighting and details are outstanding, and the prey item adds behavioral interest. One consideration when shooting shorebirds on the ground is the position of the shadow. I try get an lighting angle so the bird isn't looking into it's own shadow, but that's not always possible and a really, really subtle point. I do appreciate the low angle!
