Hi! I posted this image with my last post, and it occurred to me I ought to start an new thread , since it might be overlooked. Appreciate the feedback!!
The consensus seemed to involve the night-herons eviction. I played with the idea, and it didn't work. Just a useless space. Anyway, Arthur also thought the clipping was a problem as well. In this version the night-heron was placed in front of the frame and a shadow added in PS. It seems, to me at least, it adds another dimension, and the eye and bill leads into the image (hopefully solving another problem pointed out by Kerry).
    comments and critique welcomed. regards~Bill

Bill, that did make a difference to me! The heron gives the viewer a place to start, and since he's outside the frame it is logical to continue on into the image. I do like the way the shadow of the wooden heron falls on the plane of the virtual glass. Great stuff!!

Much better but you are not off of my hook yet :) Now the bill of the YCNH covers the bill of the Great Egret. It also seems as if you have chosen to hide the bottom edge of the distal part of the bill of the NH behind the edge of the frame.... Sugggestions: make the NH smaller so that it does not come anywhere near the GE (which was a neat part of the image) and make sure that the entire bill of the NH is in front of the wooden frame.

The 3D effect is very cool. I agree with Artie that I wish the bill of the GE was not covered. I think that could be a simple fix to put this over the top. Very cool work!

Very nice image and application, Bill.

While it would be nice to have all bills shown, it also adds interest to have them overlap, as the viewer can mentally adjust the image. I could live with this image as is.

Thanks guys! Arthur, believe it or not the bottom of the bill was straight, and I shouldn't have placed this straight edge at the frame edge; I had no intent for it to appear within the frame. I didn't want overlap the GE bill either, but couldn't see how not to artistically. Oh well. regards~Bill

I actually like that part and think it appears to be pointing in a little. It adds to the 3D effect for me.
