This is a frame from fall last year, I had an opportunity to get close and paragraph this super skittish raptors.

still longing for that shot with talons locked or food exchange but I came happy with this one.

shot with my D5 and 600E FL + TC14E-III ISO 800 f/5.6 1/3200 sec hand held as always and processed with C1P.

    hope you like it too

Image is nice and sharp with open wings. Good eye contact on the lower bird. Background is ok and the contrast make the birds standout.

Beautiful as usual Arash. Open wings plays well with the dark background. Makes this image pop. TFS

Nicely done, Arash. The background compliments the birds wonderfully. Techs spot on as always. Thank you for sharing.

Good work Arash. It is looking real good. Must have been a great moment capturing 2 birds together and both in perfect focus.

I would be doing a happy dance if I managed 1 kite in flight and I would be doing cartwheels if I got 2 kites in flight!
Great BG. I see a bit of posterization in the BG between the 2 kites. Often happens with these dark blue and dark green BG's. and hard to deal with.
    Exposure perfect on the whites.
    A great frame indeed!

Looks great. Love the dorsal view on the bottom then the underside view of the top bird. Killer background.

Thanks Gail, I do not see any posterization on my NEC but I see a ton my my cheap Dell work monitor so it must be from your monitor. There is nothing you can do about posterization with 8Bit JPEG files when using an 8Bit monitor. you either have to view the 14Bit RAW / TIFF or you have to view the 8bit file on a 10Bit monitor to smooth out the gradients.

This is an outstanding and very memorable image. I particularly like the leg/talon shadow on the upper bird's tail. WB on birds look good, but the frame seems a tad cold to me.

Amazed they both get in the same plane.. Outstanding, top one especially.
I also see the posterization on my new Mac monitor.. It is slight and really of no concern
since it is just a visually computer thing...

yeah the mac monitors are 8bit they will posterize. you have to mentally remove it :D

BTW, the top one is an adult bird, the lower one is a juvi

Awesome action captured with the two birds. Like Dorian, I love the shadow on the tail. Great poses from both birds. Nice BG too. This also makes a great natural history image with both topside and underside views visible in the same light / focus plane. TFS

This is far, far beyond superb. Combining two perfect poses, one dorsal and one undersides, is not something anyone could even hope for ...
