    Default Wood Sandpiper last light

    Hi all,
I just got round to editing some photos from a few session in the hide from this summer. It is one of my favorite ways to photograph when you find a new area with potential and get to study the place for the best spot to set up a hide and learn the birds behaviour on the location. This marsh was a highlight this year and I got to add a handfull of shorebirds to my photo collection thanks to a months work. This is a Wood Sandpiper in the last light of the day. The light was very dramatic as some storm coulds were moving in at the same time. The blue streak is the reflection of those clouds in the water.

This is a beautiful shot Ivan! Love the light and the detail on the bird. The orange is gorgeous and the blue strip at the top adds an extra dimension to the scene. I assume you didn't want to clone out the black out of focus objects on the RHS (grass?) - I personally find them slightly distracting but not a problem overall. The raised feathers and leg are very neat too. Awesome work!

A gem of a shot. Lovely light, great pose. The layered BG is a plus. Nicely done.

Nice low angle with a great pose. Love the curled up feathers and that golden water. Should have entered this for the theme.

When you post one, I know it will be good.....
    Dream light, excellent.
I might take off the darker patch on the right but totally fine as is.

Thanks for all your inputs! I made a version where the dark pach of grass on the right is cloned out. I think it added some depth in the original and also preffered to stay away from cloning but I understand that some find it distracting so I thought I'll show this version too. Thanks again for the comments!

Killer light, killer bird, sweet BKGR. I love that the wind from our left is blowing up the tertials. Super sharp and a great pose. One or two little things bugged me. \
