From my recent travels to photograph mule deer and whitetails during the rut.. Caught this buck before sunrise. I got as low as humanly possible without digging a hole to get this perspective.

Hi Dale ...oh those colors look great .
Wonderful soft light , very nice low POV and a very pleasing backdrop .
Well framed and the look of the buck into the camera makes this for me .
Techs are looking not ideal i think , not knowing how the 7D performs when it comes to high ISO , but 800 is not that high for todays cameras and you needed more Iso for faster SS .

Hi Dale - Looks like it was a successful fall season if this is an indication. Gorgeous bg colors and low pov combine for an excellent image. Good separation of the buck and an impressive set of antlers. Yes, ss a bit slow. Were you using a tripod or hh?

What a backdrop - those colours are awesome and the buck is so sharp.

This is a beauty! Those colours are off the wall, and the pose is perfect.

Amazing soft colors and exceptional IQ. I don't understand the comments regarding SS. If an image is sharp, 'its nailed' no matter what the SS...Awesome image!

Love so many things about this photo. The pose is perfect and the light is dreamy. Beautiful symmetry in the bucks antlers and your photo shows them off magnificently. Congratulations!

Why do you think that he needed more shutter speed? The image looks plenty sharp to me.

    D-Bobb,

The pink/purple/blue pre-dawn sky is to die for and that animal is not bad either. The only thing that bugs me (but obviously does not bug others) is the single sharp stalk in the low center of its breast and the out--of-focus seed head (???) just below that.

Decided to lose the second o-o-f focus seed head. Used divide and conquer technique with the Clone Stamp Tool and the Patch Tool and also two small Quick Masks refined by regular laver masks. All of the above plus tons more in covered in details in Current Workflow e-Guide (Digital Basics II) here.
