While out with the loons this past fall, a doe walked along the shore line, so I was watching her for photo ops. She picked up something, and for just a minute I was sure she was chewing on a fish with a forked tail. Only later did I realize it was just a bit of fish shaped vegetation. Pretty funny, and I had to laugh at myself.

Yes, the bg is too busy, but I liked the eye contact and shooting angle, plus the fish of course!
Ha ha Good one Randy! You certainly fooled me as well. Excellent low POV, great HA and eye contact. I like the details on the Doe and the 'catch' in its mouth! TFS.

Hi Randy, nice to see you jump into this pond, be nice to see more from you over here.
I like the framing and low POV, obviously set up for your Loons, however you dealt with the strong light very well, nicely handled, but obviously it has created more of a darker depth within the eyes & nose. Like the look back pose, as you caught her attention it seems. The BKG is slightly detracting, however nothing you could do, I have similar issues when photographing the grouse where the foliage/habitat has had a controlled burn. I have the impression you 'smoothed' the FG water, a nice touch in this instance, works well, although I also feel the ears look to have been worked on, a bit more crunchy than the rest of the doe, but could well be wrong, were they lightened?
Fish weed, yes a very unique and rare food for this animal Randy, ever rarer to get a photograph , cool capture.
You had me there for a while
Love the POV, very effective- were you in the water or float tube?
Can live with nose and eyes, agree with Steve on BG, maybe tone down on bright stalks?
Comp works.
Whites on right front\back leg and tail bit cooked.
Interesting capture,like it!
Hi Randy great low POV and nice a break from your Loons .
Steve and Andre summed up things nicely for my taste , i just agree with both and their observations.
haha Randy! You fooled me for a second as well!
Love the "fish".
Great lookback pose.
The fur looks a bit crunchy on the back and ears so I might back off on that.
Otherwise, a little bit of burning on the bright stalks and you have a fine image,

Hi Randy - Count me as another one fooled for a second . Good to see you posting over here. Great pose and the fish foliage adds. Excellent suggestions by Steve and Andre above for taking it up a notch.
I have a big smile on my face viewing this, great title! I suspected something "fishy" though, never heard of a deer eating fish
The subject has this surprised "you caught me mate" look on its face, which is just priceless. Good advice above and it would be great if you paid a little more attention to detail, this lovely little deer needs a bit more pop, if you know what I mean. I just loved viewing this, I hope you can find the time to do an RP with the recommendations above, I really think the content is great
Nothing done to the ears or water. Agree about the 'crunchy ' look to the upper back. Lots of small white hairs sticking up there, which really standout with any sharpening.
Andre: I was in my little boat, Loonie Too.
Repost to tone down the overall brightness, reduced contrast on bg a bit, less sharpening, specifically toned down the brightest whites.
Love the lighting and eye contact here Randy, good to see you popping in here every now & then
personally I would prefer something between the OP & RP, it's a shame about the cutoff reflection as I gather this is close to FF?
