Paul:
Nice calling pose, well exposed, good catchlight.
The shallow DOF from that focal length has helped deal with a pretty busy environment.
A noticeable green color cast to my eye.
Any thoughts about the 800Z at this point?
Cheers

Hi Paul, a beautiful calling pose. Nice rich colors.
The frame is a bit busy but I do like how the head and beak fit just within the bright opening. Perhaps a crop with more upper left and less bottom could really work well.
What was it eating, which left a bit on the tip of the beak?

Hi Randy,
Thanks, I think I bumped up greens a bit as the background was mostly brown.
Very happy with the 800 so far; owning the other one which was heavier, this of course is much lighter so I'm able to shoot more quickly which is nice. No drop off in image quality as far as I can tell. A fun lens to shoot with.

Hi Brian, not sure what he might of been eating other than bugs which were certainly everywhere. There was no suet or anything nearby as the feeders aren't up in the summer months in the Sax Zim bog.

I agree with all that has been said...The detail on the bird is beautiful....I would take some from the bottom, to remove the OOF branch, add some more to the top, RHS and LHS to give the bird more room....Great colours on the bird....
