Hi Jon, so the day wasn't a complete washout then? Ooh ISO4000 nice one.

Some nice detail and overall colour, although I think you could loose some off the top, any more below??? I just wonder if the NR is just a fraction too smooth, but personal taste. Pretty little things the mandarin Drake.

This looks great. Guess I can't be surprised by how good it looks at ISO 4000. Very nice job. Bird has beautiful look and great and soft and natural looking fine feather details. Very nice. I agree with Steve that I would take a little off of the top and add to the bottom. Also think the shot could use a tiny bit of counter clockwise rotation. The upper tail and undertail look a little noisy to me like you lifted the shadows a bit. I think you would have about the perfect shot here once those minor issues are fixed.

Well spotted Isaac - very little NR to the duck - more to the background, I have since reprocessed as Steve suggested and it looks a lot better.
I think you will continue to be amazed by the 1DX for some time, just a give it a job to do and it delivers!

Jon, it only delivers when YOU tell it what to do, ultimately you have to drive it, as you know, it's not a point & shot, or shoot straight out of the box.

I love the colours here! I personally would paint away some of the noise reduction on the duck's reflection at a low opacity. It looks just a bit too smooth and painting-like. Otherwise I really like it!

Thanks Thomas, the NR was overkill in this image, this is what I should have posted, I originally used a light Surface Blur filter on the water - not a good idea on this occasion.
