    Default Thick-billed Euphonia - Colombia

Here's another one from my recent Colombia trip. Since this was obviously a heavily set-up shot, I went with a wide view rather than being
right on top of the subject. I think little guy has enough color and contrast that he doesn't get lost in the frame. Some might say the perch/foliage
overpowers the bird; to that I'd say welcome to shooting in the tropics!

Another beauty Dorian. Lovely exposure and great colors of blacks and blues... If you have room below ideally i'd like to see the plant material not cut off but heh this is very nice indeed.

I knew someone would mention the cut off foliage! As this was an established setup at a lodge, I didn't want to start snipping leaves/twigs/whatever and risk ruining an otherwise nice perch. Some of the
material hung down a long way, so it was tough to include space below it AND make the bird big enough to be a worthwhile shot. I figured I'd roll with it and absorb the criticism! As I am going to show
in the next few weeks, I think we often let out desire for the perfect shot overrun natural/habitat considerations (i.e. how bird actually appears in the wild). So, stay tuned for some different stuff moving forward!

sweet shot Dorian, although the perch is pretty with the greens I'd crop it tighter as the bird could show more details, the red channel (yellows) on the chest look blown on my screen

Loving your first images from the tropics. This canvas works really well for me and the bright yellows really stand out. On my just calibrated monitor they have proper detail and help the eye to rest on this beautiful subject. TFS

Great bird! Very hard to get these guys out in the light (from my limited experience in Costa Rica) The deep blue of the belly and the bright yellows are an exposure nightmare!
I would crop a bit off the bottom and really emphasize the pano feel and would sharpen the head a bit more. To my old eyes the head is not tack sharp as presented.
    I quite like the perch!

What a neat looking little bird. Nice call on getting the whole perch. Really like all the dangling vegetation. The perch looks sharper than the bird to my eyes.

I would cut even more off the bottom...16X9 crop.
Bird looks nice, lovely species, looking forward to more..
